2025 Issue 01

President Simon Ho and Professor Joshua Mok, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research), visited the UK in April 2025 to expand HSUHK’s global connections.

In response to the Hong Kong government’s ongoing push for the internationalisation of higher education, HSUHK is collaborating with the Centre for Global Higher Education at the University of Oxford to organise the Annual Conference of the Centre for Global Higher Education from 3 to 4 April 2025 in Oxford. Professor Ho and Professor Mok engaged in a panel discussion which examined how growing geopolitical issues are affecting international student mobility and international academic collaborations with leading scholars from Japan, Korea, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the UK. Professor Ho also delivered a speech to promote the latest developments in Hong Kong as a leading international higher education hub and share the unique “Liberal + Professional” education model of HSUHK.

During the trip, the delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hertford College at the University of Oxford to enhance collaboration in academic exchange and research between the two institutions, and also visited the Oxford Global Society at Wolfson College of the University of Oxford to explore opportunities for programme collaborations in the fields of philosophy, politics and economics.

The delegation also visited the School of Management at University College London, where the two universities will co-host a postgraduate summer school programme in June 2025.

Meanwhile, HSUHK and its Schools and Departments continue to pen MoUs with global institutions to foster collaborations. Recent partnerships include Jiangxi University of Technology, La Salle Campus Barcelona Ramon Llull University, Huaqiao University and South China Agricultural University.
