In response to the recent explosion in financial deception and scam cases in Hong Kong, HSUHK announced the launching of the Anti-Scam Education and Research Programme in May 2024. The Programme is the first of its kind among local higher education institutions. It will increase anti-deception awareness among younger generations, promote academic research to deepen our understanding of the social impact caused by financial fraud, and provide public policy recommendations.

The School of Business hosted the 13th Junzi Corporation Award Presentation Ceremony in June 2024. This year, 16 companies received Junzi Corporation Awards in three categories, including the Junzi Corporation Award for Exemplary Business Practices, the Junzi Corporation Awards and the Junzi Corporation Awards (Small and Medium Enterprises). The “HSUHK Business Ethics Index” was also announced, as well as a dialogue themed “New Directions in New Circumstances” with business leaders was conducted on the same occasion.

The Global Family Office and Wealth Management Hub of the Institute of Knowledge Exchange (IKE) at HSUHK; the Qianhai Financial Industry Association; Qianhai Financial Holdings; Kerry Properties (Shenzhen) Limited; and Shenzhen Qianhai Service Group; Century Securities Company Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in July 2024 to establish a cross-border financial talent cultivation and certification system.

The High-Quality Standard and Management Hub (HQSAM Hub), under IKE at HSUHK, was officially inaugurated in August 2024. The primary objectives of the HQSAM Hub are to promote the establishment and implementation of high-quality standards, facilitate applied research and innovation in quality management, and provide education, training, and industry collaboration. The HQSAM Hub was established with a donation of HK$500,000 from GoFintech Innovation Limited.

The Start-up and SME Resource Centre at HSUHK organised the “Outstanding SME ESG and Business Performance Award” launching ceremony and “Embracing ESG Initiatives in SMEs: Unlocking Pathways to Sustainable Growth” symposium in September 2024. The award aims to encourage small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to continuously invest resources in practicing ESG upgrades and transformations, thereby enhancing their competitiveness and expanding their green business opportunities.

HSUHK signed an MoU with CLPS to provide local, Mainland, and overseas internship opportunities for HSUHK students in October 2024. The new initiative, the “Hong Kong-GBA Dual Place Internship Programme”, enables HSUHK students to gain a deep understanding of the complementary strengths of Hong Kong and other cities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) through their internships, thereby fostering the development of future talent in the GBA.
